United States Vice President Harris positive for Covid-19, Biden not ‘close contact’
WASHINGTON: United States Vice President Kamala Harris checked positive for Covid-19 on Tuesday, the White Home announced, highlighting the perseverance of the highly contagious infection even as the United States relieves limitations in a bid to revert to pre-pandemic normalcy.
The White House said neither President Joe Biden nor first girl Jill Biden were considered a “close contact” of Harris in recent days.
The White Home said Tuesday that Harris checked favorable on both rapid and a PCR tests, adding she “has actually displayed no signs”.
Harris will isolate at her house however continue to work from another location, and would just return to the White House once she checks unfavorable for the virus.
Harris, 57, got her first dose of the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine weeks prior to taking office and a second dose simply days after Inauguration Day in 2021. She got a booster shot in late October and an extra booster on April 1.
Totally immunized and enhanced people have a high degree of protection versus major health problem and death from Covid-19, particularly from the most typical and highly transmissible omicron variation.
