Consul General Randhir Jaiswal informed PTI that the Consulate is keeping track of the scenario and” we are in touch with authorities.” Later there was also a tweet by the Consulate in which it stated:”Deeply interrupted by horrific shooting in Brooklyn today. We are in touch with local authorities. Our prayers and ideas with those hurt.”Police authorities are investigating a terrible occurrence of shooting at a New York City subway station throughout morning heavy traffic Tuesday in which “multiple people”were shot and smoke was seen originating from the train station. The New York Cops Department tweeted that” in regard to the numerous individuals shot
at the 36th Street train station in Brooklyn, there are NO active explosive devices at this time.”The cops are asking witnesses to call
law enforcement with any information and are encouraging people to remain clear of the area. New York City Governor Kathy Hochul stated in a tweet that “I have been briefed on this developing situation in Brooklyn. First responders are on the scene and we will work with @MTA & @NYPDnews to offer updates as the examination continues.”Mayor Eric Adams continues to be briefed on the scenario and his workplace stated that “while we collect more information, we ask Brand-new Yorkers to stay away from this
location for their safety and so that first responders can help those in requirement and investigate.”The New York Times stated in a report that according to the New york city City Fire Department, 13 people were hurt, several by gunfire. “The cops were looking for a male with a gas mask and an orange building vest,”the NYT report stated, including”they had likewise received reports of smoke inside the station.”Media reports said the suspect was likewise carrying building and construction tools. Police officers were called to the 36th Street subway station around 8:30 am, according to an Authorities Department spokeswoman. The New York Daily News said in a report that a”gunman in a gas mask and an orange building vest tossed a smoke bomb into a crowded southbound R train and after that opened fire on & travelers “early Tuesday,”shooting five people and hurting 8 others.”The New York Daily News added that just around 8:30 am at the 25th St. station in Sunset Park, the suspect tossed a number of smoke bombs into a train cars and truck as the doors of the train closed and started shooting. As the train reached the 36th St. stop and doors of the train opened , the injured commuters came out of the train”collapsed on the platform.”Video footage of the event posted on social media revealed commuters coming out the train worried and running as the station got swallowed up in smoke.
