There are currently 33 military schools in the country, in which only boys can take admission. But now girls will also be able to take admission in military school from this academic session. These schools are run by the Sainik School Society, which is under the administrative control of the Ministry of Defense. The purpose of setting up Sainik Schools is to prepare students for entry into the Indian Armed Forces from an early age.

Girls will also get admission from academic year 2021-22

According to the agency, Minister of State for Defense Shripad Naik said in the Lok Sabha that, “After the success of the pilot project for admission of Girls Cadet in Academic Year 2018-19 at Sainik School Chhangchi, Mizoram, the government has now announced this new academic session 2021-22. Has decided to give admission in all military schools to boys as well as girls. “

Minister of State gave information in written reply

The Minister of State also said that the government is proposing to introduce a new scheme for the establishment of Sainik Schools in the country in partnership with non-governmental organizations (NGOs), private schools and state governments. Sainik schools are established on receipt of specific requests from state governments. Earlier, only boys were given admission in military schools. The Minister of State informed in a written reply in the Lok Sabha that girls will also be able to take admission in all military schools from the next academic session.
