Niti Aayog, Unicef sign pact on sustainable development goals concentrating on kids
NEW DELHI: Government think-tank Niti Aayog and Unicef India signed a statement of intent (SoI) on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) with a concentrate on kids. Repeating a mutual commitment towards realising the rights of kids in India, the agreement looks for to formalise a framework of cooperation to introduce the first report on the ‘State of India’s Children: Status and Trends in Multidimensional Child Advancement’.
The contract was signed by Sanyukta Samaddar, Nodal Officer -SDGs, Niti Aayog, and Hyun Hee Restriction, chief of social policy, Unicef India, in the presence of Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar and CEO Amitabh Kant, and Arjan de Wagt, Officer-in-Charge Deputy Agent, Unicef India.
To attain the kid advancement top priorities under the SDGs, Unicef India and Niti Aayog are establishing a comprehensive step to understand the multidimensional achievements and deprivations amongst children throughout health and nutrition, education, water and sanitation, household living requirements; and protective environment, with the aim of evaluating the status of kids around important kid associated SDGs to develop current patterns.
This effort will contribute to the realisation of India’s commitments on the 2030 Program and provide a set of policy suggestions for concerted action in regards to accelerating progress towards the SDGs to ‘leave no kid behind’ and attaining their holistic development, according to a main declaration.
“This child-focused SDG effort constructs on our effort of keeping an eye on development through the SDG India Index and Dashboard, which continues to be a distinct data-driven effort for triggering policy action. This new effort with Unicef is developed on the values of SDG attainments for children and guaranteeing that no child is left,” stated Rajiv Kumar.
