The 100-year-old Padmavati (Padma) Nair in Vadakkancherry, Thrissur in Kerala remains to be a profitable businessman who designs and paints sarees. Tough to work on frost silk

She first outlines the design after which fills it with colours. She paints on sarees made of various supplies. “She says working on Tusshar silk is a bit challenging. My daughters and daughters-in-law bring me sarees, and I paint.”

His daughter Lata says that Padma takes a couple of month to finish the work on a saree. The cash she earns on this work, she fortunately spends on her grandchildren. Padma uses social media platforms to connect with people around the world. She uses WhatsApp and often makes video calls to her grandchildren. Apart from this, she also keeps in touch with family and friends through e-mail. To celebrate his 100th birthday, the family organized an online virtual meet, which Padma enjoyed immensely.
