Jjolmyun is a Korean noodle dish, but it’s a bit different from the typical one. Jjolmyun is a spicy and chewy noodle recipe that has no liquid in it. Korea has adapted to this chewy texture and now, Jjolmyun is recognized as one of Korea’s proud dishes. Here is how to make this delicious dish.
The ingredients you will need to make jjolmyun are: a pack of chewy noodles(it will say chewy noodles on the packaging), an egg, cucumber, korean chili paste, rice vinegar, sugar, garlic, toasted sesame seeds, and sesame oil.
First you will have to prepare your ingredients. Boil the egg, peel it, and keep it whole. Julienne the cucumber (about a handful per serving) and leave it aside.
We will also have to make our sauce for the jjolmyun. The sauce is called chogochujang. It’s a chili pepper paste sauce with a bit of acidity from the vinegar. Simply mix together the korean chili paste, rice vinegar, sugar, garlic, and sesame oil to make your sauce.
Now, get a pot filled with water and put it on high. Next, put in your chewy noodles and cook those. Once the noodles are done, strain out all the water, and rinse the noodles in water a couple of times to get rid of the starchy flavor. Once you’re done with that, put it in a medium-large size bowl.
Next, add the chogochujang sauce right on top. On top of that, add the julienned cucumbers and the egg. Now, all that’s left to do is to enjoy your delicious jjolmyun! Teach your friends how to make this delicious and very simple dish.
