Govt to take a look at airline companies charging fee for airport check-in

Govt to examine airlines charging fee for airport check-in

BRAND-NEW DELHI: The government will examine the practice of lots of airline companies charging a fee from domestic passengers for check-in at airport counters.
When domestic flights had resumed partially on May 25, 2020– after across the country lockdown in wake of Covid-19 pandemic for 2 months– govt had actually imposed certain conditions like passengers being needed to do web check-in. Since then lots of airline companies have started imposing a charge from domestic guests for check-in at airport counters.
On Friday, a passenger took to Twitter to grumble about airline companies charging a cost for check-in by comparing it to a dining establishment charging a consumer additional for serving meals on a plate.
Another individual tagged Union air travel minister J M Scindia, while terming the practice as “absurd”.
To this, the minister replied: “Agreed, will analyze this asap.”
