Additional Knowledge- Indian wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been given the Player of the Month Award by the International Cricket Council (ICC). Among the women cricketers, South Africa’s Shabnam Ismail received this award. The ICC has announced the Player of the Month Award for the first time. Pant has won the award, leaving behind Joe Root of England and Paul Sterling of Ireland.

According to the ICC, three players were shortlisted based on their international performance in January in both the men’s and women’s categories. Subsequently, an independent ICC voting academy and fans voted for these shortlisted candidates. The ICC Voting Academy consists of former cricketers, broadcasters and sports journalists. Each month, the Player of the Month will be elected in both the sections by the same process.

Additional Knowledge- After the retirement of senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad, Mallikarjun Kharge (78) will now be the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. Mallikarjun Kharge is a leader of the Congress party and an MP from Karnataka. He is also a member of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. Apart from this, he has been a former Railway Minister and Labor and Employment Minister in the Government of India. Kharge was an MP from Gulbarga region of Karnataka during 2009-2019.

The purpose of celebrating this day is to throw light on the role of women in the field of science and technology. It was started by the United Nations since 2015. Every year this day is created by the United Nations in association with organizations promoting women in the field of science and technology around the world. This year the theme of the day was ‘Women at the Forefront of the Fight Against Kovid-19’.

Additional Knowledge- Team India pacer Ishant Sharma has completed 300 wickets in Test cricket. He achieved this feat in the first match of the four-Test series against England. Ishant is the sixth Indian bowler to take 300 Test wickets and the 35th bowler in the world. He has reached the milestone of 300 wickets in 98 Tests. Ishant made his Test debut at the age of 19. India’s fastest record of reaching 300 wickets is in the name of India’s Ravichandran Ashwin. He did this in his career 54th Test.

Additional Knowledge- Australian Wildlife photographer Robert Irwin has won the ‘Wildlife Photographer of the Year People’s Choice Award 2021’. Robert has been awarded the award for his image titled ‘Bushfire’, a picture of the disastrous Australian bushfire of 2020. The Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the world’s largest wildlife photography competition, organized by the Museum of Natural History.

Additional Knowledge- The United Arab Emirates space agency, while making history, has successfully delivered its vehicle into Mars orbit in the first attempt. The UAE vehicle is traveling at a speed of about 120,000 kilometers per hour. The purpose of this mission is to study the atmosphere of Mars and prepare the first global map of Mars. The UAE is located in the continent of Asia, with the capital Abu Dhabi and the UAE Dirham. The ICC is headquartered in the UAE city of Dubai and the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa (829.8 tall), is also located in the UAE.

Additional Knowledge- Karnataka has got a new district as Vijayanagar. The state government has also issued a notification approving it as the 31st district. Vijayanagar has been carved out of Bellary under the Karnataka Land Revenue Act-1964. Vijayanagar is famous for UNESCO sites like Hampi and Virupaksha Temple. It is located in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. The headquarters of this district will be Hospet. In September 2019, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa proposed in this regard. After which on 18 November 2020, the State Cabinet gave in-principle approval for the formation of Vijayanagar district.

This great freedom fighter played an active role in India’s national movement. Sarojini Naidu was born on 13 February 1879. Sarojini also fought hard for the rights of women. She became the first woman governor of India.

Her birth anniversary is celebrated as National Women’s Day in the country to honor her for her active role in the freedom movement of India and other works against the British government. The celebration of National Women’s Day was started in India on 13 February 2014, the 135th birth anniversary of Sarojini Naidu. Whereas, 8 March is celebrated every year as International Women’s Day.

Then in 2014 launched the new dating app Bumble.

Additional Knowledge- England captain Joe Root, who visited India for the Test match series, has become the first player in history to score a double century in his 100th Test match. Root has also surpassed former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, with the highest individual score, playing the 100th Test match of his career. Inzamam had earlier scored 184 runs in a 2005 Test match against India in Bengaluru.
