Authorities: 9 hurt in shooting at club in South Carolina
HAMPTON: Authorities in South Carolina state they are examining shooting at a club in Hampton County early Sunday that left at least 9 individuals injured. It was the 2nd mass shooting in the state in as numerous days.
The State Police Division stated in an email there were no reported casualties in the Easter early morning shooting at the club in Hampton County. No info was right away available on the severity of the injuries.
The SLED says it was asked to investigate by the Hampton County Constable’s Workplace. Hampton County is roughly 80 miles (about 129 kilometers) west of Charleston.
The shooting comes a day after gunfire erupted at a hectic shopping center in the state capital of Columbia. Nine individuals were shot and five individuals were hurt while attempting to run away the scene at Columbiana Centre, Columbia Authorities Chief WH “Skip” Holbrook stated in a news release Saturday. The victims ranged in age from 15 to 73.
The Columbia Police Department announced the arrest of 22-year-old Jewayne M Price, who was one of 3 individuals at first apprehended by law enforcement as an individual of interest in the shopping center shooting. Rate is arranged to have a bond hearing at 2pm Sunday on charges of illegal carrying of a pistol. It is not immediately understood if Price has a lawyer who might speak on his behalf.
Authorities stated the 73-year-old victim continues to receive medical treatment, but the other victims have been launched from local medical facilities or will be released quickly.
“We don’t think this was random,” Holbrook said. “Our company believe they knew each other and something resulted in the gunfire.”
